In our quest to learn more about all things "social media", we often find ourselves consulting Social Media Examiner, an all around expert on the topic. We really loved their recent post, "Top 10 Small Business Facebook Pages: 2011 Winners!" and thought that there was a lot to be learned from the winners. The people at Social Media Examiner not only posted the winners, but they also went into detail about why each particular page stood out, and what exactly these small businesses were doing right on their Facebook pages. Social Media Examiner is truly an authority when it comes to this stuff, so when they point out what works on a Facebook page, we listen and try to learn something.
Essentially, Social Media Examiner asked their readers to nominate Facebook pages that they thought should be considered for a Top 10 Facebook Page designation. Then they poured over the 1,400 nominations and selected their 10 winners. Each of the 10 winners was chosen for its own specific set of reasons, but something they all have in common is that each of them did an excellent job of engaging their customers through their Facebook page. Whether it was the use of a contest, responsiveness to posts, incorporating customer service into their Facebook page, tactics for generating page likes, or use of graphics, each did something to get their customers excited and keep them engaged. Being able to interact with our users is our favorite part of having our own VisionWeb Facebook Page, and we were excited to see how other companies are doing the same thing. We're excited to apply some of the learning to our own page. What about you, are you doing anything that these companies are using on their pages? Did you see something that you want to try?
