Coding Tip: Don't Forget Codes for Dry Eye

Your eyecare practice shouldn’t use 370.21 (Punctuate keratitis) if you have determined dry-eye syndrome is thecause of the patient’s illness. Use the code that best describes the patient’s problem: 375.15 (Tear film insufficiency, unspecified), 370.33 (Keratoconjunctivitis sicca, not specified as Sjogren’s) or other codes related to dry-eye syndrome.
