Every day new online services are popping up with ideas of making people's lives easier. Today, we're here to give you the scoop on the new web service that you could start hearing about in your eyecare practice, Sightbox. If you haven't heard of it yet, here are some more details on how exactly it works, and how it could affect patients coming into your practice.
Eyecare Industry News: What is Sightbox?
When a consumer signs up for the Sightbox service, here's what happens next:
- Sightbox will call up an eyecare practice and schedule an appointment on behalf of the patient
- Sightbox will pay the office for the full price of the exam and fitting
- Sightbox receives the patient's contact prescription from the practice
- Sightbox ships the patient's lenses in a subscription box to the patient throughout the course of a year
The Sightbox team handles all the details for the patient from calling the eyecare pratice to shipping the lenses. All the patient needs to do is show up for their exam. Patients using Sightbox can visit any optometrist they choose, there is no doctor network.
Sightbox is a pro-optometrist serve that was created to simplify the annual contact lens exam, fitting, and purchasing experience for patients. Sightbox helps bring more patients to eyecare practices, doesn't pay with vision insurance so you get paid the full rate the same day as the appointment, and there are no commitments or catches working with Sightbox.
All plans for consumers include an eye exam and fitting, and an annual supply of soft contact lenses regardless of brand or type of lens. Member plans range anywhere from $39 - $89 paid monthly for 12 months.
Have you have patients come to your office using Sightbox? How did the process work for you? We'd love to hear about your experiences in the comments!
