Last week we launched our "Different Mindsets of a Tradeshow Attendee" blog series by introducing you to each of the different mindsets in our spiffy infographic. This week, we'll highlight the Social Butterfly - cluing you in on awesome events at Vision Expo West, and some extracurricular activities we recommend. If you're planning on being the life of the party at Vision Expo West, here are some eyecare industry events you should put on your calendar:
WEDNESDAY NIGHT
There are a few different things that you can get into on Wednesday night to help kick of the show. Both of these are brought to you by the people behind Vision Expo, and both are taking place at great night spots in Vegas. The first is the Opening Night Kickoff Party at Blush Boutique Nightclub, which is in the Wynn. The Wynn itself is a must-see if you haven't already been there, and Blush is super-cool. The second is the After Hours Party at LAVO Nightclub in the Palazzo. Again, great hotel and great nightlife happening at LAVO. If you're arriving on Wednesday, you've got to check these two parties out. And, you'll get some nice freebies if you show your badge, so make sure you have it on hand when you get there. (Just don't be "that guy" and wear it the entire time you're there, social butterflies always keep it cool) Here's the info for these events:
Opening Night Kickoff Party at Blush Boutique Nightclub
Time: 9pm - 11pm
Show your badge for a complimentary glass of champagne.
After Hours Party at LAVO Nightclub
Time: 11pm
Location: LAVO Nightclub
Show your badge or special event pass for free admission and open bar until 12am.
THURSDAY NIGHT
Thursday is the first day of exhibit hall hours, so it's going to be a busy one, but don't let that stop you from getting out there! There is an onsite networking happy hour, Doctorfest, that the Vision Council hosts in the Medical & Scientific Theater that you'll definitely want to stop by. Then we suggest taking advantage of the slower social calendar that Thursday offers by grabbing a bite at one of the places we've really enjoyed in the past. Check it out:
Doctorfest
Time: 5:00pm – 6:00pm
Relax in the Medical & Scientific Theater on the show floor and enjoy cocktails while networking with peers.
Nobu - Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
If you love Japanese cuisine, sushi, and all around amazing food, then you need to pencil in a trek over to the Hard Rock to eat at Nobu. It's the Vegas version of the original in New York and it's truly amazing. It's not cheap, but it's worth every penny. (Why not treat yourself?) You will definitely need reservations for this one. You can call them at 702.693.5090 to make arrangements, or use their online reservation service here.
N9NE - The Palms Hotel & Casino
This is a great place if you have steak on your mind. N9NE is located at The Palms, so you're going to have to venture out, but you've been on the strip all day. Go for it! It's a really great restaurant in an awesome set up. Plus, The Palms is an awesome property. Lots to check out over there. Again, you'll need reservations and you can make them at 702.933.9900 or by booking online here.
TAO Asian Bistro - The Venetian
This is another great spot if you don't feel like venturing far from the show site. TAO is located at the top of the elevators toward the front of the Venetian. Lots of good food, and if you're feeling adventurous, it's also a nightclub. But be prepared, this is Vegas, and the nightclub features might not be suited for everyone. Check out the site before you go.
FRIDAY NIGHT
Friday night is by far the busiest night at Vision Expo as far as industry sponsored events. One that we're particularly excited about is the OWA Networking Reception & Raffle at Valentino in the Venetian. The OWA event is always a great opportunity to meet people and the raffle is going to be full of great items, and you don't have to be a member to go. And, we have the inside information from the ladies at the OWA. We found out that this year, you will be able to enter your raffle tickets in a specific raffle, so you have more chances of getting the prizes you want. There's also going to be a Student Networking Party at Indigo Lounge, which is at Bally's Resort & Casino which should be a great opportunity to get together with peers. And of course, Friday night is always the night that we look forward to EyeRock and the Marchon party. EyeRock is hosted by the Essilor Vision Foundation and will take place at the Hard Rock Cafe which is on the strip. The Marchon Party will take place at the Flamingo Hotel and is sure to be a great event, as it always is. Here are the details:
